It is an ancient symbol that represents the interrelationship of the spiritual path, the flow of time and movement within that which is eternal. The mantra is a short formula formed by one or a series of syllables repeated numerous times during the prayer to the Divine. This Sanskrit term means mind (manas) and protection (tra).

Thanks to the vibration of the sound and its resonance, it would have the power to modify the environment and to act on those who recite it. With this practice, Tibetan monks seek to focus, to channel their mind which tends to wander.

The best known mantra of Tibet is that of the Buddha of compassion Chenrezig, Om Mani Padme Hum (homage to the lotus jewel) hymn to compassion and great respect for existence.
